PROPOSAL: Brittany Attanasio :)

INSECURITY

INSECURITIES HAVE THE ABILITY TO SHAPE AND MOLD OUR MINDS; TO MAKE US SEE ONLY THE BAD THINGS ABOUT OURSELVES.  EVERYONE HAS THEM.  WE SEE OUR FLAWS AND FOCUS ONLY ON THEM.  WOULDN’T LIFE BE BETTER IF WE ALL LEARNED TO OVERCOME OUR INSECURITIES AND FOCUS ON WHAT WE ENJOY ABOUT OURSELVES?  WE MUST LEARN TO OVERLOOK OUR EXAGGERATED NEED FOR ACCEPTANCE AND APPROVAL.  WE MUST EMBRACE THE FACT THAT WE ARE ALL UNIQUE AND SPECIAL IN OUR OWN WAYS.  ACCEPT YOURSELF JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.

If my work were chosen, I would like to have it shown in the AltSpace Gallery.  For the gallery, I would include photos of peoples' insecurities and photos of peoples' strengths. The "insecurity" photos are shot in black and white to provide a melancholy/dismal feeling and the "strength" photos are shot in color to provide a more happy/cheerful feeling.
All photos were shot in the studio on the white wall, which creates a "floating" effect. One of the walls will have a large 18’’ x 24’’ print of a group photo.  The other walls will have the "insecurity" and "strength" photos laid out in a grid pattern, alternating between insecurity and strength.

Below are some examples of my work that would be displayed in the show.

This will be a motion, still, and abstract digital photography show by Benjamin Nelson. If chosen i would prefer to have my show in the Annex space.

I will be shooting all my images with a digital camera. Some of the pictures will deal with motion, while others are still and abstract shots. These kind of images I'm attracted to because sometimes I think how I move to fast in life to see what's there, or how I move to slow to focus on the present.

I will use all three wall to show my art work. I will print 9 "18x24" pictures to cover the three walls.

Below are some examples similar to whats in my show.

2nd Proposal - Elisha Braithwaite

Alt Space Proposal
Fall 2012

This will be an abstract/macro digital photography show by Elisha Braithwaite and Mourina Nielson. If chosen, we would prefer to have our show in the Annex space.

We will be shooting all of our images with a digital camera with the lens detached and flipped backwards. This effect creates close up, abstracted images and that’s how all of the images will be taken for the show. These kinds of images appeal to us because we are interested in the idea of showing a new perspective.

All 3 walls will be used completely differently. We would like to use the main, center wall for many 4’’x4’’ prints of these similar abstract images by the two of us. We want to have a mix of our work printed in a square format, square grid showing a colored gradient so that it is more visually interesting. We then want to use the left wall for Elisha’s work and the right wall for Mourina’s. On those other two matching walls we will each pick 3 of our favorite abstracts and print them 18’’ x 24’’. We plan on using magnets to hang these so that it doesn’t distract from the photographs as much.

Below are a couple of example images similar to what we will put into the show.

Proposal - Deanna M.

Art Show Proposal- Deanna Mickelson
Fall 2012 Semester

I will be doing a solo close up digital photography show. If selected, I wouldn't mind using either of the two spaces for my show. Also I'll be here for Fall and Spring semester, so either would be great.

I'll be taking all of my images in color with a digital SLR camera in a close up and personal matter. The focus of my show would be on the human facial features such as: eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. I'm intrigued with those features because the face tells us so much as a whole, but when broken up what can you pick out from a crease of a smile, a flare of the nostrils, or the intensity of eyes? I believe that you can interpret a great many things from just recognizing simple actions in the face.

I plan to cover the two side walls with many 4 x 5 photographs of different peoples features. Then on the center wall I would mount large pictures of my favorite features to make a persons face.

Thanks for your consideration,

Deanna Mickelson
