I have an appreciation for scary things and unsettling situations. Who is behind me? What is hiding in the dark? What is that noise? What is under my bed? Am I safe? Can I get away? We all experience fear.
Every scary movie has a character that goes looking for the “thump” in the night. I am that character.
I am drawn to the unknown.
Photoshop Demo
--Layer Manipulation –
1. Open Photoshop
2. Go to, File: New: select OK
3. Create new layer (never work on background if you don’t have to). On the right hand side, there is a box that shows your “background.” In the bottom right corner there’s a little icon that looks like a sticky note being pulled up. Click this to create your new layer.
4. Open web browser, find a photo, copy image.
5. Return to Photoshop, make sure you click on the picture of your layer one in the layers box to select it
6. Go to, Edit: Paste
7. Now go to the layers window. Right under the Layers tab, there is a selection box that says “Normal,” it also has 2 blue arrows at the right side of the box.
8. By clicking on the arrows, it opens up a list of options you can use to manipulate your layer. Most of the options, when applied won’t create a noticeable change because there is only one layer. The manipulations are most noticed with multiple layers.
9. Repeat steps 3&4
10. Repeat step 5 with layer 2
11. Repeat step 6
12. Now that there are at least 2 layers, return to the layer manipulation box on the right in the layer window (see steps 7 and 8). You can now experiment with the different options in the list and see what happens.

Always make sure the layer you want to be manipulating is selected. The effects will be different depending on the layer selected.
