Artist Statement

This work was inspired by a photographic method where the lens of the camera is set to the longest focal length (in this case 55mm) and flipped on the body of the camera. This method allows me access to an intimate view of my subject. It creates both a macro and blurred effect. Because of this method, I was inspired to look at different textures in the world, and to form this body of work.

This is a fictional character based on the stereotypes of a 1950's housewife. These are all up close which gives the little details of clothing, skin, and other objects instead of an overall view of the subject. While noticing each detail, one feels that they too are a part of this life and are stuck in this era. These specific aspects of each item represent everything that makes a 1950's housewife. They represent Feminism.
