Musical Interpretations- Cinimin
Student Gallery Proposal 2
Music
Inspirations
Fall 2012
Have you ever been listening to a piece of music and found
yourself completely inspired either by the beat, the lyrics, or the overall
vibe? If chosen, I would create a collection of photos that depict a song or
song phrase inspired by specific pieces of music.
The music would range from a
variety of genres from different time periods and hopefully be played during
the gallery viewing. I would use songs that inspire me and portray a phrase or whole song in a photograph. The collection
would include photographs taken in studio and out of studio with a variety of
different lighting; each photograph will vary depending on how I was inspired
by each song.
There will be a total of 7-12 large prints with 2-4 pieces on
each wall and a plaque for each photo depicting the name of the song, musician,
and phrase of the song that I was inspired by. I have no gallery preference and
would prefer this solo show to be viewed in late October or November.
Below are a few miscellaneous examples of my work:
Proposal -Brooklin Williams
I have a couple ideas:
Day of the Dead. Or similar to the spooky feel created by the make up the person wears. The make up could be covering the whole face or just part. I want different angles of the face as well as lighting.

I'm not sold on this idea yet. I have a couple of other ideas that I'm playing around with at the moment.
Alt Space Proposal - Elisha Braithwaite
Annex Space
Proposal
Fall 2012
This will be an abstract/macro digital photography show
by Elisha Braithwaite and Mourina Nielson. If chosen, we would like to have our
show in the Annex space because our images would work well with those walls and
the black floor.
We will be shooting all of our images with a digital
camera with the lens detached and flipped backwards. This effect creates close
up, abstracted images and that’s how all of the images will be taken for the
show. These kinds of images appeal to us because we are interested in the idea
of showing a new perspective.
All 3 walls will be used completely differently. We would
like to use the main, center wall for many 4’’x4’’ prints of these similar
abstract images by the two of us. We want to have a mix of our work printed in
a square format, square grid showing a colored gradient so that it is more visually
interesting. We then want to use the left wall for Elisha’s work and the right
wall for Mourina’s. On those other two matching walls we will each pick 3 of
our favorite abstracts and print them 18’’ x 24’’.
Below are a couple of example images similar to what we
will put into the show.

Beyond What The Eye Can See
Macro Photography is amazing. It allows us to see the world of the very small and
what cannot be seen with the naked eye. It allows us to see the tiny details we
would normally overlook.

Balloons - BraeLynn Palmer
This project was inspired in part by Andy Bloxham. His amazing photos pushed me to become an active photographer. i wanted to do something with balloons because they are unexpected and they encourage adults to get in touch with their inner child. this project is about having fun and creating an unexpected moment.
what once was - Kim Kohnlein
what once was...
the photographic documentation of abandonment, things and places left behind. the eerie feeling that creeps at the corners of your mind as you look at the remnants of human life, the objects from life that once was. these are buildings where people lived or worked or played. places that were once cared for and maintained. homes where people celebrated holidays and ate dinners together. but today they are empty and decrepit. they are forgotten places.
